Mahendra Singh Dhoni - Redefined the art of Captaincy
Mahendra Singh Dhoni was one of the prospective players for Indian
Cricket Team during 2000. He started off as a wicket Keeper for India. However,
he was able to show his true potential against Pakistan in the early 2000 with
a blitzkrieg century. He was an explosive player with a unique kind of
postures, stances while pummelling the bowlers through his massacre approach. He is
dubbed as the pioneer in discovering the Helicopter shot which is the hallmark
of his batting prowess. Although he is gifted with limited talent but his
persistence to unleash the beast in him actually helped him to reveal himself
to the world cricket. Indian team wasn't able to create a good captain to
lead for at least 10 years post the era of aggressive Sourab Ganguly. This
huge void in the Indian cricket team for the place of captaincy is filled by an
amateur Dhoni during that time. India was labeled as the underdog during the
2007 T-Twenty world cup. That was an emphatic victory for the Indian team lead
by the Dhoni to clinch 2007 T-Twenty Worldcup Series. There was a huge amount of praises & accolades from across the country to
Indian Players and especially for the Captain. The victory made the people to raise their expectation and confidence levels on the Indian Cricket to its pinnacle.
The team gradually became one of the formidable forces in the
world cricket. Thus, we had found a new and a thinking captain possessing all
the traits of a contemporary leader. He led the Indian cricket team to win
quite a lot of International test, one day series. Indeed, he became the numero
uno of the captain's list of Indian Cricket History in all formats of the
Game. His track record is an answer to all of his skeptics. Under his
leadership, India was able to play as team to win World cups, tournaments
against all the opponents convincingly.
The success and failures are just like two parts of a coin.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni isn't free from the controversies; the recent crisis in
the chennai Super Kings led him to face some kind of wrath from the skeptics
Dhoni seem to have released
a statement as the weariness endured by him due to heavy cricket played in all forms of game
spanning for a period close to a decade made him to take decision to retire from test Cricket. We need to respect his decision and
embrace it for his flawless contribution for India and also enthralling millions of
Indians.
There are quite a lot lessons to be learned from him, he is one of
the coolest captains that India had ever produced. He is prudent in selecting
the players and assigning them specific
tasks for the benefit of Indian Cricket. He seems to be a pious follower of
carrot and stick approach to retain players in the Indian team.
We can write a book about him, his personality, prudence and
leadership skills. These attributes are
amazing and will be an inspiration to millions of people aspiring to flourish
in their respective streams.
Let us hope that he would be a mentor for the new members and
would help India to produce yet another great captain to lead India for years.
