Movie Review - Kaththi-A stellar performance with a message to society.

Movie: Kaththi
Genre: Message Oriented movie
Language:  Tamil
Cast: Ilayathalapathy Vijay , Samantha Ruth Prabhu,
Direction: AR Murugadoss
Music: Anirudh Ravichander
My rating: 3.25/5.

The movie primarily reflects the atrocities of MNC’s in grabbing the agricultural lands for their wealth creation in the form of industries coupled with the exodus of the farmers to cities, eventually, becoming laborers. In the movie, Illayathalapathy Vijay plays a dual role, one being convicted thief and other being a hydrologist.  The convicted Vijay (Kathiresan ) flees from the prison with his ploy as if he is helping the police to nab another inmate who had also escaped from the jail.

The police are in quest to capture kathiresan. He wants to settle down in Hong Kong, while in the airport; he is fallen in love with Ankita (Samantha Ruth Prabhu) at the very outset.
In the meantime, the hydrologist (Jeevanandham ) is being shot by the goons and its being witnessed by Kathiresan.

Kathiresan admits hydrologist Jeevanandham to the hospital for saving his life. Yet again, Kathiresan wants to take advantage of the situation to be scot-free by trying to impersonate him to be Jeevanandhan.

The antagonist role is played by the Neil Nitin Mukesh and he wants to create his own firm in the village, indulges in a conspiracy to grab land from villagers as its rich in water reserves. He succeeds in doing such a heinous act. Jeevanandham is able to identify the intensions of Neil Nitin Mukesh and wants to ensure that the land is being restored to the villagers. The issue is in the court and expecting a Verdict.

However, Kathiresan being petty thief enters into a confrontation with Neil Nitin Mukesh, eventually, the latter one enters into a deal with the former to ensure that the villagers give up their right on the land for a consideration.

In due course of time, there is an event for honoring Jeevanandham for his selfless efforts to the society but the event is being attended by the impersonate Kathiresan . He learns to know the reason as to why Jeevanandham was upholding his village people. Subsequently, Kathiresan in deep remorse and returns back the money to Neil Nitin Mukesh.
The rest of the story forms what exactly Kathiresan does to help the villagers to secure land. Kathiresan desperately seeking help from media and host of the other authorities, they simply rebuke at him stating it’s a trivial issue. He understands that there is a great union and confederation for the multinational entities, and their swift response to mutually help each other if any crisis arises. But, there is none to help the farmers and wants to bring it to the notice of people, police and Media.
He is agonized for the indifference shown by the media despite the fact that village is the source of everything but the attitude of the people is disturbing towards agriculturalists. He wants to draw the attention of people and media by disrupting the entire water supply by blocking the supply tunnel which channels the water to city. This task is lead by Kathiresan and his group, primarily constituted by the age old villagers and they are successful in doing so across all the major tunnels. This creates a huge problem to the people, results in despair, and helplessness, eventually, draws the attention of the entire nation, especially the media and police.

Vijay has excelled in delivering the message with great intensity and it really touches the heart. He makes a rhetoric speech to the media about the significance of Agriculture to the society. This is the most adrenaline rush that makes movie viewers to experience while watching the flawless performance by Vijay.
In the end, the antagonist gets to know about both kathiresan and Jeevanandan. Eventually, Kathiresan destroys all the goons and the antagonist and becomes the savior of the village poeple
