EBOLA- A Monstrous ruthless Virus

West African countries such as Sierra Leone, Guinea, Nigeria is in crisis pummelled by the dangerous EBOLA Virus. These poor countries with lack of resources, governance, trained health care workers unable to contain the disease. The disease spread through bodily secreted fluids, and any one is in direct contact with them would inevitably become a victim.

The health care workers with great valour have been providing requisite medical assistance to the patients to contain the disease. EBOLA hasn't spared them either, and if any of the health care workers were to have direct contact with fluids of patients are bound to contract the disease. Whether to attribute this to lack of trained health care workers or lack of effective protocol to contain the disease has resulted in this disaster. The despair of the patients is palpable and the non-victims are apprehensive about their safety, and literally trying to stay away from the patients despite they are loved ones of their family. It has created a commotion on the streets of EBOLA stricken West African countries. The virus has already claimed the lives of over 4500 patients; it’s really appalling that there is no vaccination for this. The world community and WHO has failed to estimate the ramifications that it would create not only in West African nations but also across the world. American Doctors as well contracted with this deadly disease, thanks to their intensive care and effective treatment has helped them to get rid of the disease.

This disease isn't a new entrant to this world as it was identified in the 1970’s, the unfortunate thing is that the world community and WHO didn't take the issue seriously to produce vaccines. This Virus has yet again attacked West African nations but at a large scale. The people of West African couldn't even get the help of GOD to get redemption from this catastrophe their prayers. It also resulted in stigmatization and alienating the patients by the people, literally they are abandoned by their own family members.

America is closely monitoring the situation to thwart the spread of EBOLA and they are implementing strict guidelines to screen the travellers from West Africa to look for any symptoms and quarantine them. Additionally, America has transported their citizens who have contracted with EBOLA to the best of the Hospitals, specialized in treating them. Similarly, China is also making such preparations to prevent the spread of this disease, and they have learnt a lesson from the previous outbreak of SARS.

India should also take cue from these largest economies and put in place some measures to ensure that we do not allow the disease to spread.

It’s an eye opener for the world community and WHO to take every outbreak with great deal of attention to ensure such kind of catastrophes doesn't recur. There must be a highly concerted efforts from the international community to work together to find a solution as opposed to ignore them. Non-affected countries shouldn't turn a blind for the simple reason that they are safe at the moment.

There have been great contributions from the Gates foundation, mark zuckerberg and host of other philanthropists and countries generously to contain the disease.

Never underestimate the external agents such as Viruses as they seem to be destructive to mankind and even invisible GOD doesn't seem to respond to the prayers to revive the patients. It’s a strong message to WHO and world community.
